A species of bear unique to China is the giant panda, also referred to as the panda bear. Its striking black-and-white coat and plump body give it a distinctive look. To differentiate it from the red panda, a nearby musteloid, the term "giant panda" is occasionally used.

What is unique about a panda?

The only bears that have thumbs are pandas. Pandas differ from other bears due to the unique bone that can be found on their wrists. The sixth toe of a panda is used to grasp bamboo. This bone performs similar functions to human thumbs despite not being fully opposable; pandas primarily use it to grasp their preferred bamboo.

How many hearts do pandas have?

Its expression mirrors its inherent nature. They are weak, with only 10 health (5 hearts), and sneeze more frequently as babies than as adults. Their expressions reveal how vulnerable they are.

How long do pandas sleep?

Pandas are very drowsy. Sleep occupies a significant portion of a panda's day. In fact, the majority of pandas spend their days sleeping or lazing around when they are not foraging for their preferred food, bamboo. Because of this, a panda may sleep for up to 12 hours every day.

Are pandas friendly?

Despite the panda's common misconception that it is docile, it has been known to attack people, probably out of annoyance rather than aggression. It has been observed that pandas cover themselves in horse manure to ward off the cold.

Do pandas fall in love?

Pandas are solitary animals, and they don't even have enduring relationships with one another in the wild. Rebecca Snyder, curator of conservation and science at Oklahoma City Zoological Park and Botanical Garden, claims that after weaning, "the only time they spend with others of their kind is as babies and then later to mate."

Are pandas shy?

Pandas are excellent swimmers and can climb as high as 13,000 feet. Male pandas will perform handstands against trees to unwind occasionally. Due to their shy nature, pandas avoid populated areas. Pandas are thus confined to a very small area.
